HIGHLIGHTS:

Day 1- Dambulla
Enjoy an excursion to the Dambulla national park which covers 8,890 hectares and consists of a mixed forest of evergreen shrubs, a favourite habitat for animals, which include leopards, deer and wild elephants. Keep an eye out for monkeys as well, including the purple-faced langur and macaques.

Day 2- Dambulla
A visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below. This remarkable 5th century archaeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens. Enjoy a tour to Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa – is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya and 3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock. Visit the temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former temple of the tooth.

Day 3 – Kandy
In the city of Dambulla lies a hub which has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. Today, an icon in the face of Sri Lanka, Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed 5 cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla. Enjoy a visit to the temple of the tooth relic and enjoy a tour of the beautiful Kandy town.

Day 4 – Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy a tour to Nuwara Eliya and visit a Tea Plantation.
Ceylon tea is perhaps the most well-known and famous tea in the world. As the most important export of Sri Lanka, we’ll take you behind the scenes of this world-renowned product. You’ll meet the people who pick it, learn about their lives, walk through the tea plantations, visit a processing factory, and enjoy a cup straight from where it’s made.
Misty steep roads, twisting through lush green blankets of tea bushes in a cool climate, remind visitors that they are within the range of the renowned British colonial retreat, Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5 – Galle
Galle is a town rich in history and in fact, was the centre of Dutch rule in the 17th century. The majestic Galle Fort bears ample testimony to that fact. The city of Galle is one of the best-preserved colonial-era cities in Southeast Asia and has been declared a World Heritage City.

SRI LANKA

The Undiscovered Country

You might say Sri Lanka has been hiding in plain sight. Countless scores of travellers have passed overhead on their way to someplace else, but years of uncertainty kept Sri Lanka off many itineraries. Now, however, all that has changed. The country is moving forward quickly as more and more people discover its myriad charms. Lying between the more trodden parts of India and Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka’s history, culture and natural beauty are undeniably alluring. It’s the place you haven’t been to yet, that you should.

So Much in So Little

Few places have as many UNESCO World Heritage Sites (eight) packed into such a small area. Sri Lanka’s 2000-plus years of culture can be discovered at ancient sites where legendary temples boast beautiful details even as they shelter in caves or perch on prominent peaks. More recent are evocative colonial fortresses, from Galle to Trincomalee. Across the island, that thing that goes bump in the night might be an elephant heading to a favourite waterhole. Safari tours of Sri Lanka’s pleasantly relaxed national parks encounter leopards, water buffaloes, all manner of birds and a passel of primates.

It’s So Easy

Distances are short: see the sacred home of the world’s oldest living human-planted tree in the morning (Anuradhapura) and stand awestruck by the sight of hundreds of elephants gathering in the afternoon (Minneriya). Discover a favourite beach, meditate in a 2000-year-old temple, exchange smiles while strolling a mellow village, marvel at birds and wildflowers, try to keep count of the little dishes that come with your rice and curry. Wander past colonial gems in Colombo, then hit some epic surf. Sri Lanka is spectacular, affordable and still often uncrowded. Now is the best time to discover it.

Rainforests & Beaches

When you’re ready to escape the tropical climate of the coast and lowlands, head for the hills, with their temperate, achingly green charms. Verdant tea plantations and rain forested peaks beckon walkers, trekkers and those who just want to see them from a spectacular train ride. And then there are the beaches. Dazzlingly white and often untrodden, they ring the island so that no matter where you go, you’ll be near a sandy gem. Should you beat the inevitable languor, you can surf and dive world-class sites without world-class crowds. And you’re always just a short hop from something utterly new.

Let’s dive into what makes the various cities/towns so spectacular!

Bentota

Bentota is a resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. Its long Bentota Beach stretches north, where it becomes a sandy strip known as Paradise Island, parallel to Bentota Lagoon. Coral-rich dive sites include Canoe Rock.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the tea country hills of central Sri Lanka. Admire the beautiful landscape and waterfalls. Ramayana sites include Seetha Amman Temple/ Gayathri Temple.

Colombo

Discover Colombo’s multi-ethnic legacy with churches, mosques and temples congregating on the same streets, and delve into iconic sites including Fort Station, the Red Mosque, and the Khan clock tower.

Plunge into Colombo’s enticing street food scene, eat like a local, and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and aromas of the whirling Pettah Bazaar and visit the Lotus Tower, the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia.
